feedwisely Health Disclaimer
Effective date: October 3, 2026
Please read this before you use feedwisely. You agree to it on the "Your health data" screen when you set up the app.
1. feedwisely is not medical advice
feedwisely is a calorie and macro tracker for healthy adults. It gives general information to help you track what you eat and how your weight changes. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Nothing in the app, on our website or from our support team is medical, nutritional or dietary advice, and using feedwisely does not create a doctor-patient or dietitian-client relationship.
Never ignore professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something in feedwisely.
If you feel unwell, faint, dizzy or have chest pain, stop and seek medical help. In an emergency, call 911.
2. Everything feedwisely calculates is an estimate
- Energy expenditure. Your starting expenditure is estimated from a published formula using your age, weight, body-fat range, activity level and exercise. After that, the app updates the estimate from the food you log and your weigh-ins. These are estimates for an average person with your answers. Your real needs may be higher or lower.
- Calorie and macro targets. Your calorie, protein, fat and carb targets are calculated from that estimate, your goal, your diet style and your training. They are starting points, not prescriptions.
- Weekly check-ins. The check-in may suggest new targets based on your logs and weigh-ins. It can only be as accurate as what you log. To keep changes gradual, a check-in moves your targets by at most 200 calories at a time.
- Goal dates. The estimated finish date assumes a steady expenditure and that you follow your targets exactly. It is a best case.
- Trend weight. Your trend weight smooths out day-to-day changes. It is not a measurement of body fat or health.
- Food data. Nutrition facts come from the USDA, Open Food Facts and AI estimates, and can be incomplete or wrong.
Your body, health and circumstances are unique. No app can account for all of them.
3. Talk to a professional first
Consult a doctor, registered dietitian or other qualified health professional before you start any diet, change how much you eat, or start an exercise program, and while you follow one.
4. Who should not use feedwisely without medical guidance
Do not use feedwisely, or use it only under the care of a qualified health professional, if you:
- have, or have had, an eating disorder (such as anorexia, bulimia or binge eating disorder), or find that tracking food makes you anxious or obsessive;
- are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding;
- have diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, a thyroid condition or any other medical condition, or take medication, that may be affected by changes in your diet or weight;
- are recovering from surgery or illness;
- are underweight, or have been told to gain or lose weight for medical reasons.
feedwisely is for adults 18 and over only.
If you are struggling with food, eating or body image, please talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US), or call 911 in an emergency.
5. Safety limits built into feedwisely
feedwisely includes limits meant to keep its suggestions within a moderate range. They don't make the app suitable for everyone, and they are not a substitute for professional advice.
- Minimum calorie floor. No day's calorie target goes below your floor: the larger of 1,200 calories, or 70% of your estimated resting burn (your basal metabolic rate). If your chosen rate of weight loss would push your target below the floor, every day sits at the floor and the app suggests slowing your rate. The floor keeps your targets from going below a level generally considered safe without medical supervision: on very low calorie intakes it is hard to meet your nutritional needs, and they can be risky. Even at the floor, a diet may not be right for you; check with a professional.
- Rate limits. A weight-loss rate can be set from 0.2% to 0.9% of body weight a week, and a weight-gain rate from 0.1% to 0.8% a week.
- Healthy goal weight. A weight-loss or maintenance goal can't be set below a body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 for your height.
- Gradual changes. Weekly check-ins move your targets by at most 200 calories at a time.
BMI and these limits are general population guidelines. They don't account for every body type or condition.
6. AI meal estimates
When you use Snap (photo) or Describe (text), Google's Gemini AI estimates the foods, amounts, calories and nutrients in your meal.
- AI estimates can be wrong, sometimes by a lot. Portion sizes, hidden ingredients (such as oil, butter or sugar), and drinks are especially hard to estimate from a photo.
- The app shows: "The AI can get things wrong. Check its results before you log." Always review and edit the result before you log it.
- Don't rely on AI estimates where accuracy matters for your health, for example if you have a medical condition, a food allergy, or need to count carbs for insulin dosing.
- feedwisely does not check foods for allergens. Always read product labels.
7. Your responsibility
You are responsible for your health decisions, for how you use the targets and estimates in feedwisely, and for the accuracy of what you log. Stop using feedwisely and seek professional help if it isn't right for you.
